Burquas – Glassed Gallery in Parliament.

Does our parliament care so little about our kids that they would put those who wear such “threatening & confronting” attire in with school kids inside a soundproof glass encased gallery? We would not even hear their screams.

“But they should not be able to obscure their natural appearance as it hinders identification!” I hear you say. Well then, should not makeup, fake hair colouring, and bulky clothing be prohibited in the precincts of the people’s parliament too? And beards – the natural adjunct of a mature male – perhaps those who shave them off could be accused of concealing their natural appearance and banned as well.

Seriously, these forms of headdress are fundamentally about modesty. Detractors who themselves wear clothes ought to cease their hypocrisy and focus on functional threats like weapons. Female security people can momentarily view faces in privacy at admission if warranted or pertinent – but I doubt it is.
