Sad Shock at The Avenues

The Avenues a Sad Shock.
Recently a new upmarket Cibo Café opened there; this week the old coffee & snack shop was closed down – allegedly because their lease was now too expensive. I feel sorry for the many local elderly who could walk there for an occasional affordable lunch out and the friendly staff who all suddenly lost their jobs. Soon the friendly neighbourhood butcher there will move away too. Enhancements to the centre, probably to justify even higher rentals, discouraged patronage at the centre while they were going on. People lament the reduced access into the car park and the felling earlier of the beautiful established native trees that gave shade to the cars and refuge to native birds. A community is in shock and bereaved by all this “progress”!
